Our Vision

Save $6 Billion, greatly expand Rail

We believe that Los Angeles is at a pivotal point in its History.  It is not a coincidence that as California gets more gridlocked with traffic, that housing inequality skyrockets.  Certain neighborhoods bear the brunt of over-development, while others sit malnourished.  With the passage of Measures M&R, the people are demonstrating their demand for fast, effective transportation options. Under Metro's Measure M Expenditure plan, the county plans to spend $23 Billion on 72 miles of rail under current cost estimates using the traditional stock Light & Heavy Rail train technology.  As of late, Light Rail's costs have ballooned with decreasing available right-of-ways and as citizens demand it be grade separated above or below the streets.  Light Rail is meant to be at street level and becomes quite costly when used outside of its intended use, thereby limiting our expansion.  This 72 miles falls short of providing rail through the spine of West Hollywood, Venice/Silicon Beach/Playa Vista; it does not provide a truly fast/efficient Whittier-DTLA line, and completely misses the brand new Sports and Entertainment district in Inglewood, soon to host the Olympics and Super Bowls.  Los Angeles has the opportunity to reinvent how people get around the region.  With HyRail, we can increase our Measure M rail coverage from 72 miles to 121 miles... thats 49 MORE MILES OF UNFUNDED RAIL!  Billions of dollars are at stake and the possibilities are enormous. If done in a way to maximize our resources, we can have it all... the transit network of our dreams, access to affordable housing, and a legacy transportation project that will attract people from all over the world.

"HyRail LA" is here to educate that the citizens tastes have shifted.  Much like in the '90's when the consciousness moved from Subway to At-Grade Light rail, citizen demand is now for Elevated rail, pushing many projects outside of their allotted budgets by billions of dollars.  We believe in the flexibility of the "3 Grade" approach; that for corridors where the needs are pro-elevated, that we use HyRail or any other fast elevated based system, saving the surface lines for Light Rail and Heavy rail for underground corridors.  We envision that by foregoing the stock light and heavy rail on brand new corridors that demand elevated grade; and instead using the rail technology specific to our needs, we can maximize Metro's rail expansion plans.

HyRail is the combining of 3 well known/existing technologies which has the potential to save Los Angeles County Metro up to $6 Billion on rail transportation projects; lower commute times, access affordable housing, and construct rail projects not yet on the drawing board.  It gives us the grade separated/high capacity system we demand and can transform transportation in the U.S. with Los Angeles; yet again, as the showcase city for the next phase of the post-modern American city by the 2028 Summer Olympics. HyRail is the legacy L.A. deserves!

To maximize cost and expansion of our system, we believe in using the "3 Grade" approach to deciding the rail type for brand new corridors.    *Note: Not applicable to extensions of existing LRT & HRT lines*

We can build just about this entire system of HyRail for the money Metro currently has allocated to 3 rail lines.  Learn how...
